“Dr.Tyson is proud to announce that she is one doctor who still makes house calls.” My reasons are 1) during my pre and post doctorate internships I met individuals who due to transportation issues were unable to receive services, 2) upon completing the certification in advanced behavior analysis I became aware that many individuals would not display the maladaptive behaviors in the confines of an office,3) most adults appreciate the after hours services and most children appreciate not having to go to the office,and 4) working in the homes allows a less hurried pace and time to explore holistically.
I uphold the holistic health concept that “all aspects of people’s needs, psychological, physical and social should be taken into account and seen as a whole,” therefore, I know the importance of building a therapeutic relationship that embodies self and unconditional positive regard to what you are experiencing .
