The Pediatric Unit is located on the first floor of the south wing of the hospital. This unit is operated on a 24/7 basis. The unit consists of 15 private rooms, 13 of which can be converted to semi-private as needed and one treatment room. Security cameras are located on the entrance and both ends of the Pediatric Unit. There is a security door at the entrance to the department and patients under the age of eight are banded with a security device which allows nursing staff to detect if they get close to an exit door.
Customers served in this unit include neonates, infants, and adolescents.
Services provided include the application of the Nursing Process and interdisciplinary care in treating conditions for the pediatric population such as:
- Respiratory Illnesses
- Gastric-Enteritis
- Otitis Media
- Dehydration
- Diabetes and other illnesses
- Fractures
- Sepsis
- Seizures
- UTI
- Pyloric stenosis
- Failure to thrive
- Jaundice/Phototherapy
- Post-operative care for surgical interventions primarily ENT, general surgery, and urology.
