The state of Alabama will help people with disabilities, families, and caregivers get the aid that is needed to participate in life as much as is possible. Alabama will help to find services to help you throughout your entire life. They provide services in the home, school, workplace, and many other places.

The state has special types of services that can help with many different types of disabilities and other needs.

These areas are:

  • Early intervention programs designed for children under the age of 3 years old.
  •  Working with middle schools, high schools, junior colleges and universities statewide to assist students with disabilities in receiving appropriate educational opportunities.
  • Making available the resources and tools needed to be independent and connected within the community.
  • Homebound Services providing a wide range of education and home-based services to assist people with severe disabilities in leading more independent lives.
  • Independent Living Support Services enhances and promotes independence in the home, community and workplace.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation Service helps Alabamians with disabilities achieve independence through employment.
